Puma announces a special collaboration with the German car brand, but this time not a simple co-branding, as a precise and fascinating inspiration.
The sports footwear brand is inspired by the iconic (for enthusiasts) 911 Turbo born in the mid-70s (signed, always for the benefit of fans who know its history, 930 Turbo is nicknamed “widow maker” for its brutal character!) and defines a limited edition sneaker capsule.
The collaboration was commissioned by Porsche precisely to help develop some of the brand's values, moving into other contexts and in the eyes of enthusiasts who are not necessarily ready to buy a car of the German brand. The chosen value is that sub-mark in italics – turbo – which appears on the bodywork of cars that have played a key role in the brand's commercial and technical strategy, a choice that is told on an iconographic level and that has always deserved a particular communication.
The collection includes two lines, the Future Rider and the Speedcat inspired by the racing world, with the declination of two categories in turn inspired by the generations of 911 Turbo: Air-cooled e Water-cooled, based on the technical characteristics of the engine which in the first series was air-cooled, then with the following it passes to the most modern water cooling.
The Puma Future Rider therefore presents the first four generations, inspired by the silhouette of these models: Type 930 3.0 L and 3.3 L, Type 964 and Type 993.
The Puma Speedcat refer to the design of the latter 4 generations, thus coming to the present day, with: Type 996, 997, 991 and 992 (the latter model – Porsche – currently on the market).
The codes naturally correspond to the model name, always belonging to the Turbo family, which for Porsche represented not only a technical element, but a real sub-brand on which a story has been built from the origins with the first experiments aimed at obtaining greater performance, to date with technological innovation that uses the turbocharger (rather, in the case of Porsche 911, now two turbochargers) to achieve an optimal balance between extreme performances, emissions, consumption, driving pleasure.
The PUMA collection will be on sale from 17 November, starting from the websites of the two companies Porsche Design and Puma US, then in selected points of sale.
